WHITE COLLAR PARALLELS

Because even when we're mad at them, we have to admit the writers are pretty smart :)

Run by Emma. White Collar returns 1/17/12. Tags list

rosemarydiver:

That awkward moment when Neal and Sara do the same exact thing in the same episode, but Sara is the only one to get flak for it from the fandom. Is it because Neal was a con? That’s awfully shit reasoning, fandom. Sara’s morally grey area is like Neal’s in a lot of ways. Way to keep up the double standards.

“Look, when Kate and I met, we had nothing. I got that bottle, and I used to fill it up with whatever cheap wine we could afford and we’d sit in that crappy apartment and drink it over cold pizza and pretend we were living in the Cote d’Azur.
“How’d that work out for you?”
“It didn’t. Because that bottle was a promise of a better life.
——
“These past few days…well, they remind me of the Palazzo Sasso. They’ve been perfect.
“You’re really hung up on that hotel.”
“It wasn’t just a hotel. It was a time in my life when I had everything I was looking for. Freedom, excitement, comfort…and the right people to share it with.”
“You think…this might be another one of those moments?”
What if I told you that we could keep living like this?

When Neal falls in love, he falls hard. These two scenes (1x01 vs 3x07) are eerily similar in tone, as well as in Matt Bomer’s portrayal of Neal’s emotions. Foreshadowing, perhaps?

Peter: I work hard. I do my job well. And I don’t have a $10 million view of Manhattan that I share with a 22-year-old art student while we sip espresso.
Neal: Why not?
Peter: Why not? Because I’m not supposed to. The amount of work I do equals certain things in the real world. Not cappuccino in the clouds. - 01x01, Pilot

Sara: It really has been a hell of a lot of fun.
Neal: But?
Sara: But we didn’t earn it, Neal. People like me don’t get gold-plated guitars. - 03x07 - Taking Account
